Arakirina ceramic plate

Works by arakirina, a ceramic artist based in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, have arrived.

These plates feature crack patterns intentionally created by combining different slip crackle (crazing patterns) to produce patterns of varying sizes.

During reduction firing, which restricts oxygen during firing, the iron content in the clay body develops color, resulting in a pink hue that is not glaze but rather a phenomenon called "Gohon-de," one of the accidental "kiln changes." These beautiful pieces are a fusion of intentional design and natural occurrences.

Lina-san's works, with her background as a textile designer, have an artistic presence like paintings. Displaying them upright enhances the depth of your interior space.

They can, of course, be used as dishes for food or fruit, but also enjoyed as an ash catcher for incense.

After studying textiles at Tama Art University and working at a textile design office in Tokyo, she moved to Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, in 2018. After many years of working as a designer for a ceramics manufacturer, she became independent.
She is particular about expressing texture and pursues the beauty of nature and her unique worldview.
